Explanatory Note

This bill amends the Official Information Act 1982 to remove the current exemption held by the Parliamentary Service.

Official Information Act (Parliamentary Service) Amendment Bill

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1. Title
This Act is the Official Information Act (Parliamentary Service) Amendment Act 2017.

2. Commencement
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it received the Royal Assent.

3. Principal Act Amended
This Act amends the Official Information Act 1982.

4. Section 2 Amended (Interpretation)
In section 2, replace the definition of organisation with:

"organisation—
"organisation means—
"(a) an organisation named in Part 2 of Schedule 1 of the Ombudsmen Act 1975 (other than mortality review committees, or sponsors (within the meaning of section 2(1) of the Education Act 1989) when performing functions as a sponsor under the Education Act 1989 or a partnership school contract (within the meaning of section 2(1) of the Education Act 1989)):
"(b) an organisation named in Schedule 1 of this Act"
