While we're at it, we could also add Easter Sunday to the Holidays Act - though it is difficult to Mondayize as Easter Monday is already a public holiday.
I think this is an excellent idea. We also need a public holiday in the middle of winter when its cold and bleak and everyone has colds and flu
Well, that would involve picking a day worth celebrating at that time. Unless we call it "national sick day" (or better: "because we're sick of it day"). But we can always draft a separate bill for each proposal (yeah, spam the ballot!)
How about a day off for Matariki at the beginning of July? A day off to fly kites and have a feast sounds like a good plan to me

Why put the Mondayisation of these holidays in seperate bills? Seems simpler to do the lot at once.
Simply a preference for short, single-purpose, standalone bills - but they could just as easily be combined.
Seperate bills also gives you seperate bites at the ballot, if you're worrying about such things.
