Holidays (Matariki) Amendment Bill
The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1. Title
This Act is the Holidays (Matariki) Amendment Act 2009.
2. Commencement
This Act comes into force on the 1 January 2010.
3. Principal Act Amended
This Act amends the Holidays Act 2003.
4. Matariki a Public Holiday
Section 44 (1) is amended by adding the following paragraph:
(l) Matariki
5. Queens Birthday Abolished
Section 44(1)(i) is repealed.

The Maori Party have a bill along similar lines, which has just been drawn from the ballot.
It isn't a fixed date, and (per wikipedia) some iwi celebrate it on different days to others. I guess that would need to be allowed for?
