Explanatory note
This bill amends the Broadcasting Act 1989 to remove the prohibition on broadcasting advertisements on Sunday mornings, and specified holidays.
This bill repeals sections 79A and 81 of Broadcasting Act.
Broadcasting (Repeal of Advertising Restrictions) Amendment Bill
The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1. Title
This Act is the Broadcasting (Repeal of Advertising Restrictions) Amendment Act 2009.
2. Commencement
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
3. Principal Act amended
This Act amends the Broadcasting Act 1989.
4. Section 79A repealed
Repeal section 79A.
5. Section 81 repealed
Repeal section 81.
6. Other amendments to principal Act
The principal Act is amended in the manner indicated in Schedule 1.
